Edmonton home builders, Michael Homes Inc we offer you options, but you make the final choice about what you would like to include in your new custom built home. Many of the most valuable energy improvements are easier and cheaper to install while a home is being built. Any investment in energy efficiency improvements you make at the building stage, will start to pay you back in lower energy bills the day you move in. A home built to the rigid EnerGuide guidelines has been proven to be 15% to 30% more energy efficient than an average built house. An energy efficient home uses less energy and fewer resources.

Any Edmonton Home Builders can claim that a house is energy efficient, but only a EnerGuide rating label proves how efficient it really is.

The EnerGuide labelling program can only be issued by an EnerVision’s Certified Energy Advisors (CEAs). EnerVision is an Alberta-based not-for-profit organisation with a mandate to assist us in building you a energy efficient, environmentally responsible, healthy green home.

Natural Resources Canada’s (NRCan’s) Office of Energy Efficiency developed the EnerGuide rating service to provide independent expert advice on energy-efficient home construction to Edmonton Home Builders and new home buyers in support of the federal ecoACTION initiative.

Understanding the EnerGuide labelling Program

Building green simply means making smart choices in the design and construction of a home.  Making your home less expensive to operate, more comfortable to live in and more environmentally friendly reducing your carbon footprint.

Build-Green-Edmonton-Home-buildersThe Green labelling program EnerGuide provided  by Enervison help guide these choices. Designed by industry and backed by government, the Energuide Labelling system gives practical, tangible choices for Edmonton Home Builders and new home owners who want to build green.

We focus  on ways to improve the energy efficiency of  heating and ventilation equipment, such as the furnace,   the building envelope, such as windows and insulation levels in the attic, walls and basement, water heating and water consumption  and the installation of energy efficient appliances.

What is the EnerGuide Rating Labelling System?

An EnerGuide rating label shows a standard measure of your home’s energy performance. It shows you (and future buyers) exactly how energy efficient your home really is. The rating is calculated based on standard operation assumptions so that you can compare the energy performance of one house against another.

The home’s energy efficiency level is rated on a scale of 0 to 100. A rating of 0 represents a home with major air leakage, no insulation and extremely high energy building_green-footprintconsumption. A rating of 100 represents a house that is airtight, well insulated, sufficiently ventilated and requires no purchased energy on an annual basis.

Moving into your new Edmonton green home should be the experience of a lifetime. The EnerVison’s building green using the EnerGuide Rating system  helps that experience to be the best it can be.
